How to Verify your Carrier Identity
Start using all the tools on TruckSmarter by verifying your carrier identity.
To view, bid, and book on all loads, TruckSmarter verifies your carrier identity directly with the FMCSA. There's no paperwork to upload — you confirm your identity with a one-time code sent to the contact info the FMCSA has on file for your authority. It only takes a minute.
Open carrier verification
From the Home tab, scroll to Settings and tap My account.
On the Your info screen, tap Carrier MC / DOT (it shows as Unverified).
Step 1: Enter your MC or DOT number
Choose MC or DOT, type your number, and tap Search. TruckSmarter looks your authority up in the FMCSA records. Confirm the carrier that appears is yours, then tap Continue.
If you don't have a number yet, tap I don't have an MC or DOT yet.
Step 2: Confirm your role on the authority
Tell us how you're connected to this authority, then tap Continue:
Owner — I am the owner of the authority listed above
Employee — I am a member of this carrier's authority
Leasing — I am leasing onto this authority (may not appear for all accounts)
If you select Owner, you'll verify with a one-time code (next step). If you select Employee or Leasing, TruckSmarter sends a request to the carrier's owner to add you to their account instead.
Step 3: Choose how to get your code
You'll see "We need to verify your carrier identity with the FMCSA." Pick how you'd like to receive your verification code. The options shown are the contact details the FMCSA has on file for your authority:
Email to your address on file
Text message to your number on file
Voice call to your number on file
Step 4: Enter your code
Enter the 6-digit code you receive, and your identity is confirmed.
Didn't get it? Tap Resend code (available after a short countdown).
Wrong contact info on file? Tap Not getting the code? Try a different method to choose another option.
You're verified
That's it — "Thanks for verifying!" You now have full access to view loads, see details, and take actions like bidding and booking.
If your carrier is already on TruckSmarter
If the MC/DOT you entered has already been verified by another TruckSmarter account, you'll see "Verification failed — The carrier identity you entered has already verified through another TruckSmarter Account." Tap Request access to ask that account's owner to add you, or Get support from our team.
