What is a carrier team?

A carrier team is how TruckSmarter groups everyone operating under the same MC or DOT authority. When a carrier verifies their MC or DOT number in TruckSmarter, they become the authority owner of their carrier team. Employees and leased-on drivers can then be added to that team.

Why carrier teams matter:

  • Verifies authority for bids, bookings, and broker calls: brokers can confirm they are working with the correct carrier and trust that the carrier behind every interaction is legitimate.

  • Helps prevent fraud: your MC/DOT is protected, and you'll be notified if someone attempts to use your authority within TruckSmarter.

  • Keeps your whole operation connected: employees and leased-on drivers can participate fully in TruckSmarter without needing their own separate authority.

How to add members to your team

If you’re the authority owner, you can invite employees and leased-on drivers to join your carrier team.

  1. From the Home tab, scroll to the Settings section and tap on Manage carrier team.

  2. Tap Invite team member.

  3. Fill out the team member's contact details, then select the role you want them to join as.

4. Tap Send Invite, and your team member will receive an invitation by email or SMS.

5. Once they accept, they'll appear on your Carrier Team page.

💡 Tip: If a team member doesn't receive their invite, ask them to check their spam folder or try resending from the Manage carrier team screen.

How to join another carrier's team

If you're an employee or leased-on driver operating under another carrier's authority, you'll need to be added to their carrier team.

There are two ways to join:

  1. Receive an invitation from the authority owner. The carrier owner can invite you directly from the Carrier Team page. You'll receive an invitation by email or SMS.

  2. Request to be added from the “Manage carrier team” section on the home page. Select the option to join another carrier team. We'll contact the authority owner to confirm your association before adding you to the team.

Once approved, you'll receive a notification and gain access to the carrier team.

Note: if you already have members on your team you will not be able to join another team.
